Programs That Help Us Remember
Through stories, culture, reflection, and creative experiences, these programs help young people explore what has shaped them, recognize what they already carry, and connect more deeply with who they are becoming.
ROOTED
WITHIN
An exploration of identity, culture, belonging, and the things we carry with us.
What is Rooted Within?
Rooted Within is a creative, story-based program that invites young people to explore the people, places, cultures, experiences, and connections that have helped shape who they are.
Inspired by Rooted Soul, the program uses storytelling, reflection, conversation, and creative activities to help participants recognize the things they already carry with them, the sources of belonging, strength, comfort, identity, and connection they can return to when they need them.
Rooted Within isn't about telling young people who they should be. It's about giving them space to recognize who they already are and who they're becoming.

Rooted Within in Practice
Hispanic Heritage Month • Middle School
Identity & Roots Workshop
Students begin by identifying the people, places, traditions, experiences, interests, and memories that matter to them. Through guided conversation and reflection, they explore how those connections have helped shape who they are and who they're becoming.
They then turn those connections into something personal through a creative activity—something they can take with them as a reminder of what grounds them.
